Mediumship and Psychic Readings
Mediumship focuses on communication with loved ones who have passed away. Psychic readings explore your present circumstances, relationships, career and possible paths ahead.
How I Experience Spirit Communication
During a mediumship session, I receive impressions through images in my mind, words, feelings and symbols. These may arrive briefly and unexpectedly, rather than as an ordinary conversation or a physical presence in the room.
My role is to interpret those impressions and share them with you. A detail may relate to a personality, a memory or something meaningful in your relationship with a loved one who has passed away. Sometimes its significance is clearer to you than it is to me.
I approach this work with compassion, discretion and care. Interpretation is a human process, and no particular connection or message can be guaranteed.

Explore Group EventsArashiyama occupies the far western edge of Kyoto, where the city gradually yields to forested mountains and the Ōi River — known in this reach as the Hozu — winds through a landscape of extraordinary natural beauty. The bamboo grove that rises behind Tenryuji temple, filtering morning light into shifting columns of luminous green-gold, is among the most visited natural sites in Japan; and yet the deeper Arashiyama — the mountain temples of Jojakko-ji and Nison-in, the riverside teahouses of Nakanoshima Park, the private gardens of Tenryuji — retains a quality of genuine stillness that feels increasingly rare in the contemporary world. The finest ryokan in Arashiyama — Hoshinoya Kyoto, reachable only by boat through a gorge; Suiran, the Luxury Collection hotel on the riverbank; Arashiyama Benkei, with its private riverside garden — offer their guests an experience of Japan that is not available elsewhere: a complete immersion in natural beauty, refined hospitality and the contemplative traditions that Arashiyama has nurtured for centuries.
Arashiyama draws guests who are, in some sense, already in retreat — stepping back from the demands of ordinary life to encounter something quieter and more essential. A private consultation with Raphaël, available by secure video from the privacy of a ryokan room or a mountain villa, is a natural companion to this intention. The conversation takes place at a level of depth and intimacy that the particular atmosphere of Arashiyama seems to invite and sustain.
Raphaël has worked across the spectrum of private client circumstances — from the urgency of major life decisions to the quiet inquiry of those who have simply reached a moment where they wish to hear something true. The contemplative quality of Arashiyama's clientele — guests of distinguished ryokan who have made deliberate, considered choices about how and where they spend their time — is entirely familiar to him. He brings to these consultations the same unhurried attention and genuine depth that his clients have brought to their choice of destination.
Arashiyama's cultural significance extends back to the Heian period, when the Fujiwara aristocracy established their country villas along the Ōi River and the mountain foothills. The landscape that attracted them — wide river, forested hills, the extraordinary quality of autumn colour and spring cherry blossom — is the same landscape that receives visitors today. The Togetsukyo Bridge, spanning the river against a backdrop of mountain and forest, is one of the most recognised views in Japan. The district's temples — Tenryuji, with its celebrated Zen garden; Jojakko-ji, hidden in the forest with its remarkable cedar grove; Daikaku-ji, a former imperial villa turned temple — represent a depth and continuity of spiritual culture that gives Arashiyama its particular meditative character. The monkey park on Iwatayama offers a contrasting encounter with Arashiyama's wild nature, while the Sagano Scenic Railway carries guests through the Hozu River gorge in one of Japan's most celebrated train journeys.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between mediumship and a psychic reading?
Mediumship sessions focus on communication with loved ones who have passed away. Psychic readings focus on your present circumstances, relationships, life direction and possible paths ahead. Let Raphaël know which focus matters to you.
Can I have a private consultation online?
Yes. Connect by an agreed video or telephone method from a quiet, private setting. These pages describe online consultations for clients in each destination, not a local office. Agree your appointment date, local time and connection method before the session.
Which languages are available?
Raphaël offers consultations in English, French and Spanish. Choose the language in which you feel most comfortable expressing yourself.
What should I prepare?
Choose a quiet setting and a reliable connection. You may bring questions or a focus for your session. After booking, follow the consultation questionnaire and preparation instructions provided.
Can a particular loved one or message be guaranteed?
No. A mediumship session cannot guarantee communication with a particular person, a specific message or a particular emotional outcome. Raphaël shares and interprets the impressions he receives with care.
Are private sessions and group readings the same?
No. A private consultation reserves one-to-one time with Raphaël. Group readings are separate ticketed events, with their own dates and prices when announced. An event ticket does not reserve a private consultation or guarantee an individual reading.
